Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez for UEFA Best Player Award. CF 13 AUG 2015 FOOTBALL, LATEST Barcelona duo Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have been shortlisted alongside Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo in the final three of the UEFA Best Player Award. The three were nominated after journalists from each of UEFA’s 54 member associations provided a list of their five best-ranked players, with the first receiving five points, the second four, and so on. Making the preliminary top ten but missing out on the top three were Barca striker Neymar, Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and teammates Andrea Pirlo, Paul Pogba, Carlos Tevez and Arturo Vidal, as well as Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
